W1WKO Memorial

DeFUSCO, ARMAND, 88, of Providence, passed away on Sunday at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Iola M. (Cola) DeFusco and son of the late Carmine and Maria (Gazerro) DiFusco.

Mr. DeFusco graduated from Brown University in 1941 with a degree in chemistry. He worked as a chemist and process engineer at Uniroyal until 1976 and at Union Camp until his retirement in 1985. He earned his amateur radio license in 1952 and held the call sign W1WKO. He was a member of the Providence Radio Association and the ARRL. He was an avid DXer and made the ARRL DXCC Honor Roll.
He is survived by a son, Richard DeFusco of Lincoln, Nebraska; a daughter, Elaine Walsh of North Providence; his grandchildren, Sarah Walsh, Rachel and Rebekah DeFusco; and a sister, Elvira Caprio.

Calling hours Friday 5-8 PM in the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence. Funeral Saturday at 8:45 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 AM in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
